I'm sorry, you go through a very painful experience. When my mother was at this time, the palliative care nurse, said all he could do was a small sponge on a stick, and clean or make the lips and mouth with water. It was just a little at a time to make it easier to swallow. There are patches and drops under the tongue for medication because the pills that are so hard to swallow. It absorbs little swallow Dropps minimum necessary. Have you spoken with a hospice nurse?

The stomach tube or IV is the best option. There are 2 types of feeding tubes, the nose, throat and stomach, rising .. Quite simply, no need for surgery. The other is what I am a "button" call .. more permanent, but you can .. Probably the best for the long term. It requires minor surgery. From the outside it looked like this a little clip. Connect a tube to the meal (or in this case from liquids) and take a syringe filled with fluid and pump. Very, very easy to do, and goes directly into the stomach.

Firstly, I'm sorry for your wife and sorry for the jerk who gave a stupid answer. My brother-sister lived with us while he was dying of the same type of cancer. My advice is to try to frequent sips of ice, like the jelly things, but in reality, if they are not sufficient and needed intravenous fluids and get their drugs intravenously. You can keep your most comfortable with a slightly damp sponge to the lips and mouth kept moist. I work in a hospital and is very uncomfotable the mouth so that all dry and it really will help you feel better. Good luck to you and I am again sorry for your wife.

Why not just doctors can give fluids intravenously.
